Dr. Rajesh Mathur, Professor Emeritus, Medical University of South Carolina, passed on December 13, 2022 at Simpsonville, South Carolina. He obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University at Montreal, Canada in 1967. After three years of Postdoctoral training in Endocrinology at Canada and at Stockholm Sweden he joined the Faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC in 1970 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a Reproductive Endocrinologist, Dr. Mathur educated and trained medical students, graduate students and junior faculty. He is extensively published with nearly 100 publications. He retired as Professor in March 2005 after doing research in Reproductive Endocrinology and Cancer Biology. He joined Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization in July 2005 and served as Area Governor and Division Governor at District 58 Toastmasters.
Rajesh lived a full life, being part of a big family of 7 brothers and their progeny in India and around the world. He met his wife Dr. Subbi Mathur, DTM at McGill University and they married in May 1968. They have two children and five wonderful grandchildren. Rajesh and Subbi have been vital participants in the lives of children and grandchildren.
A loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, versatile teacher and caring friend, Rajesh touched the lives of everyone with his sincerity and positivity.
He is survived by his wife Subbi Mathur, daughter Veena Mathur O’Brien, her husband, Chris O’Brien, and Veena’s children, Anil, Arun and Jaya; son Arun Mathur, his wife Sonya Mathur, and their children Ajay and Maya.
Services for Rajesh will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 with religious services from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
