Philip Geoffrey Lowry, 83, of Greenville, passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2019. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Emily and Philip Lowry. Philip moved to the United States after finishing high school and served in the US Air Force. He met the love of his life, Eva Marie Moore in 1957. He became an American Citizen in 1958. Philip was a truck driver by trade and worked for Overnight Transportation (now UPS), retiring after 30 years. He loved his home and found solace working in the yard. He was an avid hiker and also enjoyed attending NASCAR races. Philip’s greatest passion was for his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Philip “Geoffrey” Lowry, Jr.; sister, Brenda Nicholson; brother, Michael R. Lowry; and his tortoise shell Persian, Abby.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eva Marie Lowry; nephew, Christopher Nicholson; and other extended family members. He will be remembered for his cheerful smile, laughter, and gentle ways.
The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in the Remembrance Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park; the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Chaplain Tim Hormell.
