Luther Calvin Clyde Mauldin Luther (Luke) Clyde, 85, servant of God through Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior was welcomed home Tuesday September 29, 2015. A tireless worker and provider for his family, Luke was born July 25, 1930 in the Welcome Community of Greenville and raised in Mauldin by the late John W. and Fannie McCoy Clyde. Luke raised his family in Mauldin where he was a retired Plumber, Member of Empire Masonic Lodge, Hejaz Shrine Temple & lifelong member of Mauldin First Baptist Church where he served his Lord as Deacon, Sunday School Supt., Sunday School Teacher and many other Roles. Luke served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Air Force. Surviving are three sons, Ron (Yvonne), Fred (Rhonda) and Brian all of the Area; a brother, the Rev. Dewitt Clyde of Gaffney; & special niece, Patsy Ward. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kerri, Ryan, Janah, Jennifer & Jason; and eleven great-grandchildren. Luke was predeceased by his former wife Sabra H.Clyde; brothers, John D Clyde, James P Clyde, Benjamin F. Clyde; & sisters, Louise Haney and Dorothy Free. The family wishes to thank the Loving Staffs of The Springs at Simpsonville, RM Campbell Veterans Nursing, the Medical Staff at AN-Med CCU and McCall Hospice House for caring for our father. The family also thanks the First Baptist Mauldin family for the Prayers and Cards during Dad’s illness. Services will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Mauldin, 150 South Main Street. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m., prior to the service at the church. In lieu of Flowers, the family asked that Memorials be made to First Baptist Retire the Debt Fund, Shriners Hospital for Children, McCall Hospice House or a Charity of one’s choice in his name. The families are at their respective residences.
