Lucy was born October 14, 1957 to the late Walton and Beatrice Alexander. She was raised in Oak Park, IL and lived most of her life in Illinois. She ran track in high school and college, and was particularly gifted in the timed mile run. She met her husband Mike at a church volleyball game in 1978 and they were married in 1980. She worked as an executive secretary until leaving her job to raise her two daughters. She loved Jesus, her husband and children, non-fiction reading, listening to Christian music, and animals. She particularly loved dogs and her Bichon named Buster whom she owned for almost 20 years. She was thankful that she was able to spend her final months with her husband and near her daughter in South Carolina.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 42 years Michael Read; daughter Kristina Jipping (nee Read); her daughter Michelle Read; and her brother Robert Alexander.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Carol; and her two brothers Ross and Bill.
A private memorial service will be held for Lucy.
