It is with broken hearts here on earth, but with heavenly celebration that we announce the passing of Julie Utz, who walked into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on July 18, 2024. Julie lived a life that touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving a legacy of love, compassion and joy.
Born on September 10, 1931 to the late John and Julia Loder, Julie’s early years in the rural hills of Pennsylvania framed a life that was as vibrant as the flowers she tended and painted later in life.
Julie married her Sweetheart, Jack Utz, on May 28, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her life became an embodiment of love, not only for her husband but also for her beloved children, Jocelyn, John and Janine.
She viewed one of her greatest life’s roles to be the raising of her children. She also had a distinguished career as an executive secretary working for various corporations throughout the country. She had a large impact on all whom she worked with, demonstrating poise and integrity in everything she did.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Julie faithfully cared for family and friends through her delicious cooking and baking. A woman of faith and the heart of the Utz family, Julie shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. With a real zest for life, Julie shared her vision of God’s endless beauty through her paintings and artistic endeavors.
Julie is a member of Agnew Road Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. She lived her life with grace, integrity, and a love of family that inspired those around her. Family held a special place in Julie’s heart. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she cherished the bond of love and created lasting memories. Her life was a collection of chapters that told a story of dedication, love, and kindness.
Julie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack ; her children Jocelyn Lovegrove and husband Bill, John Utz and wife Tiffani, and Janine Cook and husband Doug. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Loder of Manteca, California.
Her most prized love and joy were her grandchildren, Stephen Lovegrove, Elliot Lovegrove, Hannah Lovegrove, Genesis Utz, Kelsie Utz, Tanner Utz and fiance Alison, Micah Cook and wife Danyel and Caleb Cook. They were her legacy of everything precious and loving.
While we feel a deep void in Julie’s absence, we celebrate knowing that she is with our Savior Jesus Christ, living in a body and spirit made perfect. A celebration to honor a life so graciously lived will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00 AM at Agnew Baptist Church, 400 Rainbow Dr, Greenville, SC 29617 with Pastor Jeff Miller officiating.
The family would like to extend their utmost thanks and gratitude to The Hospice at Via Health Partners for the loving care they provided in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of Via Health Partners or to a charity of your choice in Julie’s honor. May Julie rest peacefully and securely in the presence of our Heavenly Father, and may her memory continue to inspire and guide us all.
