Born in Pyriton, AL, he was a son of the late Jonah Jefferson Sexton and Sena Elizabeth Atkisson Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a retired Chief Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and was retired from J.P. Stevens following 18 years of service. He was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Sexton loved travelling the world with his wife.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, Mr. Sexton is survived by three daughters, Georgiann Yeager, Carol Lynn Hoey, and Della Leah Fitzgerald; three sons, Jim Sherman Sexton, Jr., Barton David Sexton, and Stephen Michael Sexton; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Zell Collins; two brothers, Luther Sexton and Jonah Sexton; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hampton Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
