He was born on February 15, 1937 in Anderson, SC to Harold Beano Campbell and Jewel Sanders Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ellis, Ansel, and Dallas; and his former wife, Rose Campbell Hammond. He is survived by his children, Kelly Powell (Lee) and Les Campbell; grandchildren, Austin Powell (Savannah), Connor Campbell (Kerri), and Ashlynn Powell; great-grandchildren, Carson and Noah Campbell; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Jerry graduated from Erskine College and worked in the local Textile Industry for many years. In 1972, he started Pioneer Chemical, Inc. He was a genius at math, which made him a great chemist, and his outgoing personality made him a great salesman. Because of this and an amazing group of dedicated employees, Pioneer is still a successful business today. Jerry was a generous man who loved helping others. He loved people, the beach, playing the piano, playing the stock market, and in his last few months, he enjoyed watching old westerns. He was a wonderful and supportive father, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him.
The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Hands Thru Us, the Interim Hospice staff, and the Interim nurses. A very special thank-you goes to Gus Samuel, who was like another son to Jerry, and was a great help and companion to him. His last few years were made better because of all of them.
There will be a Life Celebration Drop-In on Friday, March 17th, 2023 from 4-6 at the Spaulding Farm Clubhouse, 100 Spaulding Farm Rd., Greenville, SC 29615.
