Born July 6, 1942, in Savannah, GA., he was the son of the late Floyd R. Mahan and Eleanor D. Mahan.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Judy, Jack is survived by his daughter, Alison Davis and her husband Brian; two grandsons, Bennett and Jack, all of Greer; three brothers, Val Mahan of Atlanta, GA., Michael Mahan of Union, S.C. and Randolph Mahan of Columbia, S.C. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Mahan and a brother Carl Mahan.
Following graduation from Union High School, Jack served in The United States Army Reserves for six months active duty before being honorably discharged. He then attended Spartanburg Methodist College for two years before transferring to Presbyterian College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics. Prior to retirement, Jack was employed by Milliken & Company, Spartan Mills and Carwile Personnel.
After receiving a transplant in 1997, Jack spent time volunteering and speaking to promote organ and tissue donation. He was an active member of Taylors First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. Jack loved spending time with friends and family, especially watching his grandsons play sports. He lived life to its fullest and enjoyed people and serving Christ.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held at Taylors First Baptist Church, 200 W. Main St. Taylors, SC 29687 at 2pm on Wednesday July 11, 2018 conducted by Dr. Doug Mize and Dr. Jimmie Harley. Burial will follow service in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC.
Active pallbearers will be Wiley Johnson, James Beard, Steve Griffin, Steve Barbery, Randy Brewer, and Gary McIntyre.
Members of the Hayes Life Group are asked to sit as a group.
