Dorothy Ann Szalkowski

Dorothy Ann (Grucz) Szalkowski, 87, of Greenville, SC, went home to be with her Savior during the early hours of December 22, 2022. Dorothy (Dodo) was born February 6, 1935 in Detroit, MI, to the late Edward J. and Angeline F. Grucz.

Dorothy is survived by her younger brother and his wife, Richard and Diana Grucz of FL and her four children and their spouses John (and Brenda) Szalkowski of SC, Carolyn (and Raymond) Brewster of NC, Paula (and Mark) Batory of SC, and Christina (and William) Sperber of MI. Dorothy enjoyed being Grams, Gramma, Babcia, and BabbaD to 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 predeceased great-grandson.

In Isaiah chapter 54 God promised to be a husband to the widowed or deserted wife and to be the teacher to her children and to give peace to them. After her divorce, Dorothy claimed these verses for herself and her children. She went to school to become a medical clerk and worked for over 20 years as a unit secretary in St. Joseph Hospital ICU and CCU in MI.

For over 50 years the Lord kept His Word and never failed her as He met all of her needs and helped her to raise her children. Dorothy is probably best remembered for her hugs. She thoroughly enjoyed working in Women's Ministries and Bible Studies. For many years she volunteered at Faith Ministries, a literature ministry of Gospel Fellowship Association Missions.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC with visitation prior at 11:00 a.m.
