Born in Paris, Tennessee, David spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan, before moving to South Carolina. He was a 1974 graduate of Bob Jones University with a degree in Business Management. Most recently, David retired from FGP International, where he spent 31 years as an Executive Recruiter in various industries.
He was an avid sports fan, most notably a vehement supporter of the Clemson Tigers and all Detroit sports teams. He also loved the game of golf, both as a spectator and participant, though his golf game never got him the notoriety of which he dreamed. David was a man of leisure in the truest sense. He often was found perfecting his swing, perfecting his nap, or perfecting the art of enjoying the couch. Never the environmentalist, he was a staunch collector of receipts, invoices, and all things paper.
Born in Alton, Illinois, Diana was a graduate of Alton High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was a homemaker who enjoyed creating a warm and welcoming home where she frequently hosted gatherings for friends and family. She was a table leader of her ladies Bible Study group for many years, as well as a "Bunco Queen." Of all the hats she wore, "Grandma" was her favorite.
Christmas was her favorite holiday and her decorating skills were legendary, bordering on the mythological. She could transform a pinecone into a reindeer with the flick of a glue gun and some glitter. Her Christmas tree, a masterpiece of ornaments and Dollar Tree tinsel, was once designated as a fire hazard by the Simpsonville Fire Department.
David and Diana were married in 1996 and enjoyed nearly 28 years of marriage. They enjoyed antiquing, beach trips, and traveling with friends. They were actively involved in their church community for over 30 years. Most of all, they adored their seven grandchildren and cherished making special memories with each of them.
They are survived by five children and seven grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Fellowship Greenville, 3161 S Hwy 14, Greenville, SC 29615, starting at 10:00am. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Miracle Hill Ministries of Greenville, SC, of which David and Diana were ardent supporters.
