Betty Elkes Chambers

Betty Elkes Chambers passed away on April 15th. She was married to Bill Chambers for 63 years before he passed away. She is survived by her three children: Tawana Caldwell (David Caldwell – spouse), Renee Lindsay (Charles Lindsay – spouse) and Billy Glenn Chambers Jr (Dana Chambers – spouse), five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Gladys Henderson and Irene Ward are also alive, though her older siblings Polly and Donald have also passed.

She was a resident of Greenville for most of her life, and a participant in numerous churches over the years. A strong and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, she was an example to her children and to her extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her favorite passage was Psalm 91.

Betty asked for a small graveside ceremony for close family. There will be a public celebration of life at Southside Baptist church, 410 S. Main Street Greer, SC on Saturday, April 29th at 2:00 pm.
