Betsy Jean Pangle, 68, entered Heaven on June 28, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to William and Jean Rawls and moved to Greenville, South Carolina at an early age. Betsy graduated from Eastside High School and then went on to Winthrop University to earn a degree in Interior Design, a passion she carried throughout her life.
Betsy is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Ben Pangle, who was her steadfast companion. She was a devoted mother to her son Matt and daughter-in-law Hannah, whom she loved greatly. Betsy is survived by her close-knit family, including her father Bill Rawls, her sister Leslie Russell (husband William), her brother Blair Rawls (wife Becky), and nieces Rachel and Caroline.
For 27 years, Betsy shared her warmth and wisdom as a teacher at Edwards Road Baptist Church, leaving an indelible mark on her students and colleagues alike. She had a natural talent for decorating and found joy in uncovering treasures through thrifting. Above all, Betsy found her greatest happiness in moments spent surrounded by her loved ones. Betsy lived and believed her family motto “I have the greatest family in the world.”
Betsy's strong faith in God guided her through life's joys and challenges with grace.
The family will hold a private ceremony at Woodlawn Memorial Park on July 3, 2024 to honor and celebrate Betsy's life, a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
