Allen graduated from Benedictine Military High School, Savannah Georgia in 1957 and attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. He later retired from the Army National Guard and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
He loved his family, golf, cooking and was a devoted fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His quick wit and love for his family will be greatly missed.
Allen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary A Jansson; daughters Suzanne Williams (Johnny); Joanne Poston (Scott); Lynne Abercrombie(Jason); and son Allen Jansson, Jr. (Catherine); brother David Jansson (Christine); grandchildren Kyle Williams (Katie),Morgan Gibson(Brock),Taylor Poston, Cameron Williams, Olivia Abercrombie, Dillon Abercrombie and great grandchild Maddox Gibson. Also left to cherish Allen's memories are several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Allen was preceded in death by; father Oscar F Jansson; mother Gloria B Jansson and mother-in-law Josephine Oliveto; sister-in-law Sally Oliveto.
A visitation for Allen will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Allen's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org or to a charity of your choice.
