Joyce B. Koontz, 93 of Gettysburg, Ohio, passed away on Friday October 21, 2022 at 12:10 PM at her residence with her daughters by her side. She was born August 8, 1929 in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Forest and Erma (Denman) Brandon.
Joyce was a homemaker and worked as an Usher at the movie theater in Greenville, she was a secretary for two Full Bird Coronals at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and she then worked at the Darke County Unemployment office and Sater Products. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Gettysburg and a past member of the Eastern Star. She loved to bake, especially pies.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon Lee Koontz on October 20, 2004 whom she married December 20, 1954; her brothers, Don, George, Forrest, and John Brandon; her sisters, Leona Phillippi, Beaulah Hathaway, Carol Kagey, and Mabel Hepner.
Joyce is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Melanie Koontz of Gettysburg, Denise and Bruce Koontz Dowell of Greenville, Tina and Jerry DePoy of Gettysburg, Colleen and Shane Marshall of Concord, N.C.; her grandchildren and spouses, Jerrod and Sarah DePoy, Jeremy and Allie DePoy, Jordan DePoy, Eric and Jessie Koontz, Tessa May Marshall, and Torri Elaine Marshall; her great grandchildren, Nataleigh, Ellaina, and Alex Koontz, Ethan Vanatta, Braxton, Bryson, and Bexley DePoy, Aurie and Ada Grace DePoy; her sister, Shirley Lenart of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Gettysburg Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice.
