She was born April 12, 1956, in Greenville, Ohio to Don and Marjorie (House) Darding.
Diane grew up on her family farm with her sister and parents, where she had many great memories of farming. She cherished her relationships with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and all of her family was very special to her. Diane attended Gettysburg High School, which consolidated with Greenville City Schools the year before she graduated in 1974.
Diane was a 4-H advisor for many years. She enjoyed watching her granddaughters play softball and basketball and would attend the games as often as she could. Her hobbies included crocheting and watching football, and she loved making her fantasy football picks and competing with family. She enjoyed spoiling her grand-dog Winnie and looked forward to her visits. She participated in Darke County Emmaus and treasured the friendships she made through her walks. Diane worked as a bank teller and as a teacher’s aide. She loved children and babysat for many over the years who were still an active part of her life. Diane loved people and was known for her sweet smile and unique laugh.
Diane is preceded in death by her father, Don Darding; former spouse, Edward Huffman; father- and mother-in-law, Max and Alice (Kueterman) Huffman; and brother-in-law Jimmy Stephens.
Diane is survived by her mother, Marjorie (House) Darding; only child, daughter Mindy Jo (Huffman) Stebbins and husband Jason of Greenville; granddaughters, Gabriella and Caleigh Stebbins of Greenville; sister Peggy (Darding) and husband Stirling "Bo" Overholser of Bradford; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim Huffman and his wife Melanie of Versailles, Dixie (Huffman) Stephens of Somerset, Ky., Roberta (Huffman) Stahl and her husband Dan of Washington Court House; nieces and nephews, Lydia (Jeremy) Brenner, Aaron (Lindsey) Overholser, Chance Stephens, Abby (Mike) Molenda, Bethany (Scott) Harris, Catherine (Ahmad) Stahl, Morgan (Macy) Huffman, Taylor (Mitchell) Westerheide, Bailey Huffman and fiancé Drew Sherman; and nine great-nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 11, at the Oakland Church of the Brethren, 8058 Horatio-Harris Creek Road, Bradford, Ohio, with Pastor Jon Keller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 6 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fish Choice Food Pantry or Darke County Humane Society.
