Betty was born March 3, 1929, in Carbon Cliff, Illinois, to the late George B. & Bess (Laughery) Lancaster. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Fox on May 19, 1989, whom she married June 17, 1951; and son, James L. Fox.
Betty is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Daniel & Sonya Fox of Wayne Lakes and David & Kathy Fox of Wayne Lakes; daughter-in-law, Kate Fox of Wayne Lakes; grandchildren, Kathy L. Fox, Kyle J. (Mary) Fox, Kristopher L. (Kati) Fox, Charles D. (Lacey) Fox, Amanda F. (Jarien) Tabor, Dr. Elizabeth L. (Dr. August Capiola) Fox, Amy (Brian) Rismiller, Nicole (Alec) Hobbs, Jenna Frantz, and Cassandra G. (Oliver) Smith; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Betty received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Illinois State University. She was a teacher, then later became a homemaker raising her children. Betty was a member of Grace Bible Church in Springfield. She was a founding member of the Greenville Chapter of Christian Women’s Club. She loved traveling the Mid-West to share her testimony about her relationship with the Lord and encouraged others to follow and do the same. She was a former volunteer at State of the Heart Hospice (EverHeart Hospice) in Greenville for many years. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, cruising, traveling the World, dancing and reading the bible.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 3, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Marv Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
