Paul E. Colson Sr., 84 of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Metro Hospital in Cleveland. Paul was born on August 21, 1931 in Greensburg, the son of James and Cora (Black) Colson. Paul married Bernice Beedenbender on May 29, 1954 at the St. Patrick’s Church West Park in Cleveland. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2003, after 49 years of marriage.
Paul is US Army veteran, fighting in the Korean War. He worked as a Forman at DairyPak in Olmstead Falls, Ohio for many years.
Survivors include two daughters AnnMarie Nixon of Cleveland, OH and Debra Hartshorn of Windber, PA, two sons Paul Colson Jr. of Cleveland, OH and Tim Colson of Westlake, OH, four sisters – Marcile Churchgovich, Betty Ruble, Shirley Mozingo, and Joanne Buening, two brothers – Donald and Earl Colson, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Michael Colson, two sisters – Jeanette Levi and Cora Wyrick and four brothers – Jim, Ray, Herschel and Virgil Colson.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 11AM – 1PM. There will be a graveside prayer service at the South Park Cemetery after the visitation, followed by military graveside rites. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com.
