Eleanor A. New Rodgers

Eleanor A. Rodgers, 79 of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Morning Breeze Nursing Home. Eleanor was born on January 2, 1938 in Ohio County, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Wingate) New. She graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1956. On July 13, 1957 she married Harold Rodgers Jr. and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2009. Eleanor worked in the Administration office for the Greensburg Community Schools for several years. Many people will remember her as the “Cake Lady” because she baked and decorated cakes for people for more than 40 years. Survivors include her Son – Michael (Shirley) Rodgers of Rushsylvania, OH; her daughter - Kathleen (William) Rodgers-Perry of Streator, IL; three sisters Mary Renaud, Dorothy (William) Koons and Ruby (William) Dennis; two brothers and Clarence New Jr. and Gene New; and two grandchildren Geoffrey (Jillian) Rodgers and Ryan (Ashleigh) Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday July 5, 2017 from 4PM – 7PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 11AM on Thursday July 6 also at the funeral home with Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
