William “Bill” Ralph Smith, Jr., 86, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Wednesday March 14, 2018. He was born in Wilmington on April 26, 1931, the son of the late William Ralph Smith, Sr. and Velia Collier Smith.
Bill was a chemist with the Dexter Corporation for 37 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was married to Betty Wallace Smith who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his son, Davidson Collier smith of Winston-Salem and Ellen Smith Hill of Wilmington.
A Service to Celebrate Bill’s Life will be held at a later date in Wilmington. His urn will be laid to rest with his wife at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Bill’s memory to St. Joseph’s Indian School 1301 N. Main St. Chamberlain, SD 57325 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38195
