Mr. William C. “Bill” Shuler, 92 of Greensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Bill was born in Winston-Salem on November 10, 1923 to the late Walter G. Shuler and Lou Meyers Shuler. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Elizabeth “Mary Lib” Tuttle Shuler and brother, W. LaVerne Shuler.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm in Greensboro. Burial will immediately follow at Westminster Gardens.
Bill retired from Binswanger Glass after many years of service as a Contract Estimator. He was a charter member of the Professional Contract Estimators Association (PCEA) and spent many years on the Board of Directors of the Triad Chapter and also won the local Chapter Estimator of the Year Award. In the National Chapter of PCEA, he served as Secretary for the Board of Directors. As a member of the Order of Isosceles, he was recognized for his contributions and professionalism in the construction industry. He also received the prestigious Rudolf John Barnes Award in 1993 being honored as the National Estimator of the Year.
Bill’s passion was genealogy and had traced his family roots through many generations and was part of the Guilford County Genealogical Society and served in various roles. He dabbled in carpentry and loved to collect “treasures.” Known for his wit, Bill’s laughter and his devilish sense of humor will be missed by all.
He is survived by son Walter T. Shuler and wife Carol of Greensboro, son W. Thomas Shuler and wife Joy of Brandon, Mississippi, grandchildren Nicole Shuler Dunn, Nicholas Shuler, Alec Shuler, Amy Shuler and Jake Shuler, great-grandchildren Gannon and Harrison Dunn and Riley Jane Slack and honorary son Robert McDowell and wife Karen.
The family is most grateful to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to them. The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 9 pm on Monday, March 26, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Elm Street.
