William A. Carter Jr.

At Billy’s request, there will be no formal services held.

Born in Leaksville, (Eden) NC October 27, 1952, he was the son of the late William A. and Ruby R. Carter. In 1980, Billy married Marilyn Cain and lived in Greensboro for many years before moving to Rockingham County. For a short time, Billy worked at Macfield and then worked at Sears in the shipping department and various other departments for 23 years.

Billy was a member of Halifax County Gun Club in South Boston, VA, Rockingham County Gun Club, and Alamance Long Rifles. He was active in the Guilford Militia where they reenacted the Revolutionary War all over the South. Billy loved to shoot skeet where he participated in many competitions and won several awards and trophies.

Billy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn C. Carter of the home; brother, Francis Carter and wife, Dianne of Stoneville; sisters, Connie Williams and husband, Allen of Eden and Kathy Carter-Peterson and husband, Fred of Durham and his beloved dog, Lila. Also surviving are numerous nieces, a nephew and many cousins.
