Willard was born in Randleman, NC on April 22, 1926 to Willard Canby Robbins and Mary Hinshaw Robbins. He was a graduate of Randleman High School, The University of Missouri- Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Master of Science in Economics. He was a veteran of the United States Naval Air Force during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a Flight Engineer, Petty Officer in PBM Squadron VPB-28. One of his proudest moments was participating in the Veterans Flight of Honor to Washington D.C. last year. He was a stock broker for over fifty years in Greensboro, and served his clients with pride at McDaniel-Lewis, Interstate Securities, Hornblower Weeks Hemple and Noyes, Wheat First Securities, Scott and Stringfellow, and most recently at Raymond-James.
Willard was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church for many years, and has been a member of First Baptist Church for over twenty years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of over fifty years Jane Allen Robbins. His sisters Nelle Robbins Wall, Ruby Alice Robbins, Daisy Robbins Farlow, Vera Robbins Allred, Nan Robbins Robbins, and Illa Robbins Bean also predeceased him. He is survived by his son Willard Canby Robbins III and his wife Eva Atwill Robbins and their children Charles Bishop Robbins and Eva Alice Robbins.
The Family will have visitation from 6pm until 8pm Thursday, December 20th, 2012 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home at 515 N. Elm St. Greensboro, NC. Services will be held on Friday, December 21st, 2012 at 11:00am in the chapel at First Baptist Church at 1000 W. Friendly Ave. Greensboro, NC.
