A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church by Monsignor Anthony Marcaccio. Friends will be received immediately following Mass in the Simmons Center at the church. Entombment will follow at Westminster Gardens Colonial Mausoleum.
Walt was born January 18, 1943 in Charleston, WVA, the son of Thomas and Henrietta Brannon Edwards.
Walt was a member of St. Pius X where he was involved in many different outreach ministries, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed giving life to everyone around him, providing transportation to seniors, delivering Mobile Meals, donating food to area pregnancy centers and teaching Tai Chi exercise. Walt enjoyed taking long walks and everything related to fitness and health. His favorite pastimes were skiing adventures to Appalachian Ski Mountain and Snowshoe Mountain Resort, spending time at the beach with his family, and traveling with his wife.
In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Lynn Edwards.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Edwards; daughters, Dawn Lixl and Tiffany Cotton and husband Chris, all of Greensboro; brother, Johnny Edwards of Charleston, WVA; grandchildren, Brittany, Zach and Brannon Carty and Alex and Haley Cotton.
“God has not forgotten you. You will bounce back from every setback and negative situation you are experiencing. Your story has already been written. Your final scene has been shot. You don’t end in failure, you end in victory!”
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Walt’s name be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2210 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27408.
