Tommy Ray Lee

Tommy Ray Lee was born in High Point, where he lived most of his life. Tommy was a traditional southern boy who loved to ride sports vehicles, hunt, and fish. Now fishing encompassed many forms from sport fishing to leisure fishing, but he was most known for his love of competition Carp Fishing. He has bragging rights of being a lake champion at several of the local pay lakes over the years. He found a family in the fisherman at South Davidson Carp Lake that filled his soul with love and brotherhood. Tommy was a jack of all trades, and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He spent many years as an independent floor covering subcontractor and then transitioned back into his earlier career as a CDL Truck Driver for T & L Casey and Logistics LLC and Stephenson Motor Lines, where he quickly became part of another work family.

Tommy ironically had a bad physical heart but the strongest loving spiritual heart anyone has ever known. He was the volunteer driver who transported local Hospice nursing personnel from home to work and back when there was bad weather.  He had chef’s kiss cooking skills, and he liked showing love by preparing the best 5 course meals for his friends and family. Anyone who left his home hungry only had themselves to blame.

Tommy married his love Rhonda Lee, and they enjoyed 30 years together. They shared a bond few people get to experience, and they had each other’s backs always. Tommy was the character in the story who was bigger than life, and he always brought laughter, entertainment, fun and joy wherever he went. If Tommy showed up anywhere, you could bet it turned into a party.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his mother, Jone Eads of High Point, his brother, Billy Lee of High Point, and a long list of extended family whose lives he touched through his lifetime. Tommy’s final wishes included organ donation (which was successful), cremation, and a celebration of life in lieu of a traditional funeral. This celebration of life will take place January 11, 2025, at South Davidson Carp Lake at 483 Bob Loflin Road Denton, NC starting at 4 pm. There will be a heated tent, food, fireworks, and fellowship for anyone who wants to drop by to celebrate with us. Tommy always told us “ y’all better not be crying and sad and all that… send me out the way I lived….wide open, free spirited… with a bang and a party.” So, in honor of our beloved T-Ray… that is exactly what we shall do.

In lieu of flowers, Tommy would ask you to support local businesses in your community. He was a big supporter of self-employed and small independent business as he was a member of that community all his life.
