A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 10, 2022, 2PM at Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver, NC. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Friends will be received before the service at the church beginning at 1PM and after the burial as well.
Steven was born October 5, 1953 in Aberdeen, MD, the eldest son of the late Robert E. Jelinek, Jr. and Elva Bergstrom Jelinek.
Steven was a graduate of Cornell University, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA in finance. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He was a caring person, especially with his family. Steven had a very bright mind and a quick sense of humor. He enjoyed working in his garden and was an avid collector of stamps and other items. He was also known for his gourmet cooking and his keen interest in his nieces and nephews. Steve was an avid board and card game player.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Elva, of Greensboro and formerly of Denver, NC, sister, Nancy Johnson (Jim) of Greensboro, brother, John Jelinek (Mel) of Charlotte, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family expresses their sincere thanks for excellent, compassionate care provided by the teams at Verra Springs at Heritage Greens, and Wesley Long Hospital.
