Stephen "Steve" Phillip Peeler

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 16 at the cemetery of St. Mark's Community Church in Burlington. Arrangements are being handled by Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home.

Steve was born in Burlington to the late Mabel Somers and John Clifton Peeler Jr. After graduating from Williams High School in 1967, he served four years in the Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant at discharge. He earned his bachelor's degree from N.C. State with help from the GI Bill.

After a stint in TV production for WRAL, Steve began work at Blue Bell (now VF Corporation), where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 2008. He was a reliable, fair and fun-loving co-worker who established lifelong friendships with many, including Mayte, Mya and several friend of many years. Other than a competitive streak when playing golf, Steve was a generous and gentle soul.

Steve is survived by his children Jeff and Juli, his brother Tom and sister-in-law Peggy, and his grandchildren Nathan, Sarah, Ben and Rosie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
