River Landing of Sandy Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois
Morton Belk, his parents Samuel E. Belk and Belle Moore Belk, and his
sister Frances Belk Miller. He is survived by his sons Sam Belk and wife
Fabra of Nashville, Tennessee, and Stan Belk and wife Deane of High Point;
grandchildren Forbes Belk of San Francisco, Elizabeth Belk of Nashville, and
Garrison Belk and Montgomery Belk of High Point; and nephew, Donald Morris,
and niece, Sue Morris, both of Madison Heights, Virginia.
He grew up in Madison Heights and served in the US Army in Panama during
World War II. He graduated from Phillips Business College and was employed
as an accountant by Burlington Industries for thirty-two years. He was a
faithful charter member and Deacon Emeritus at Sharpe Road Baptist Church in
Greensboro. He loved his church, the beach, gardening and his family and
friends. The family especially would like to thank River Landing and
Presbyterian Home and all of their staff who provided many years of loving
care.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, February 1, at the home of
Stan and Deane Belk, 1208 Lancaster Place in High Point, from 5:00 to 7:00
pm. A private memorial service for family will be held on Saturday. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharpe Road Baptist Church, 1908
Sharpe Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 or River Landing, 1575 John Knox Drive,
Colfax, NC 27235.
