

A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Congregational UCC, 400 W. Radiance Drive, Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Ruth Ann was born November 28, 1942, in Wilmington, DE to the late Raymond Cecil and Audrey Weatherley Barker. In 1960, she graduated from Unionville High School in Pennsylvania, and in 1964 she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern University. She was a social worker in Delaware Co., Pennsylvania and Douglas Co., Nebraska. Upon her return from overseas with her husband Ralph, she worked as a part time teller with CCB, now known as SunTrust, in Durham, NC and retired as an assistant Vice President.
Ruth Ann was an active member of Congregational UCC, where she sang in the choir, was in the Women’s Circle and served on various boards with the church. She was a member of Civitan and served as President for the Gate City Civitan Club.
Early on, Ruth Ann enjoyed golf, hiking, travel and reading.
Mrs. Wenger is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Wenger; sons, Ross Wenger and his wife Tiffany Smith of Reseda, CA, Douglas Wenger and his wife Christine of Mooresboro, NC and grandchildren, Madilynne and Reece Wenger, Jacob and Camryn Olson and Brandon Smith.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Pennybyrn at Maryfield for the care and compassion given to Ruth Ann and her family.
