Ruth Hines Lanier Roberts

Ruth Hines Lanier Roberts was born March 16, 1921 and passed from this earth into the presence of the Lord on May 31, 2017 in the care of Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday June 4th 2017 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel on West Gate City Blvd in Greensboro. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

In her early career she was the executive secretary for Henry Foscue, president of Globe Furniture and president of Southern Furniture Market in High Point, NC. She met Parks Roberts at the skating rink which was a favorite pastime of theirs and all the family. They even skated competitively in Regionals and then Nationals in 1961. After Parks and Ruth were married, her greatest passion was her family. No one ever left her house without being well-fed and her standing at the door waving goodbye and sending her love with you.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson Hines and Mattie Lauder Hines; her first husband, Phillip Hoy Lanier, who died in WWII in 1945 and her late husband of 56 years, Parks Henry Roberts, Sr. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Parks H Roberts, Jr. and his wife Neil of Wilmington; daughters, Trudy Lynne Wilburn and her husband Rick of Memphis; and Cathy R. Hoover and her husband Jason of Greensboro; grandchildren, Leigh M Tyndall and her husband Josh R Tyndall, Davis, Caroline and Mary Catherine Hoover.
