Ruby Cooper White

Mrs. Ruby Cooper White, 89, passed away April 8, 2015 after several years of declining health. A celebration of her life will be Monday, April 13 at 4 PM in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Dolly Jacobs. The family will receive friends following the service in the Blair Hagan Room. Mrs. White will be interred at 3:15 PM prior to the service at Westminster Gardens.

She was born in Chatham County to the late William Milton and Charlotte Rigsbee Cooper. Ruby graduated from Burlington High School (Williams) in 1942 and attended Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh. She celebrated over forty wonderful years of marriage to William (Bill) J. White until his death in 1980. Ruby will be remembered as a sweet woman of great faith who cherished her family and friends. She was especially fond of her granddaughter, Courtney, of whom she took loving care through the years. Their time together is a precious memory. She was a great southern cook, wonderful caretaker of her sisters in their later years and the backbone of her family. Ruby was a member of Starmount Presbyterian and First Presbyterian Churches, Greensboro Jaycettes and Greensboro Christian Women’s Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. White; son, William Richard White; and granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Charles all of Greensboro. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her siblings, Mozelle Barr, Elizabeth Faircloth and William Cooper; special friends, Charles R. and Vivian Jones; and furry companions, Rufus, Buffy and Cleo.
