Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro with Pastor Michael Owens officiating. Frank will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral services. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Frank was born in Bethlehem, TN on March 20, 1931 to the late Andrew Jackson Willoughby and Ottie Elizabeth Stepp Willoughby. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was proud to have served his country. Frank was a member of Gate City Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. His life-long career was managing Roses Department Stores. After retiring, he worked part-time with At Home (formerly Garden Ridge) and was still working there at the age of 93 until he became ill. Frank was blessed with the gift of creativity and expressed that in numerous ways, mostly through his paintings, but also through playing the drums and even floral designing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and 4 brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Iris Toney Willoughby; his son, Mark Silvers (Karen); sister, Lou Parker; niece, Brenda Branch; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.
