Robert "Bob" Field Carley

Our dearest Bob passed away on June 25, 2022

Bob was born in Los Angeles, California, and was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Rick and Don, his sister, Judy and his daughter Lorrie.

Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Debbie, sons Brian (Sandy), Joe, and daughters Melissa (Jeff), Katie, and his two special daughters Milada and Hege. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Bryan, Katie, Yovana, Payton, Lucas, and Ryan, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Bob was a talented drummer who never had a lesson and he had a long career as a master carpenter. His music was a huge part of his life during his years in Illinois where he played with several bands who played a wide variety of music. His carpentry skills were well known during 50 years of construction. He built residential, government housing, commercial buildings, and a beautiful resort hotel. He also worked for Guilford County for 20 years.

As Bob and Deb’s family was growing up, Bob was always there for soccer, basketball, boy scouts, music lessons, driving the High School van after work and attending recitals. The remainder of weekends were spent canoeing, camping, sailing, planting trees and flowers, and spending time at the beach.

After the children were grown, Bob and Deb followed their lifelong dream of traveling mostly by ocean or river cruises. They were blessed with trips that included Alaska, Caribbean, Mediterranean, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Tazmania, Bali, The British Isles, and the Baltic Region. In 2010, their passion turned to river cruising with their beloved AmaWaterways where they explored many of the rivers in Europe and developed lifelong friendships with fellow travels and dear friends at AMA.

During the last few months of his life Bob and Deb received the wonderful care of Nancy and Madeira from AuthoraCare Collective. We are so thankful and blessed for the sensitive and loving care they provided us during this difficult time.

Bob was a devoted husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends who will all have beautiful memories of him held close in their hearts.

Visitation for Bob will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, North Carolina 27407, followed by a Rite of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. in the Chapel of Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield.
