Richard “Dicky” Stinson, age 78, of Pleasant Garden, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Born on August 25, 1946 in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Dicky grew up in Imlay Town, New Jersey and attended Allentown High School. In 1966 Dicky was drafted to fight in the Vietnam War and served proudly before he was honorably discharged in 1968. Dicky was a skilled roofer and carpenter, joining the New Jersey Carpenters Union and working with them for many years until he retired to focus on his passion of woodworking. He was a skilled horseshoe and pool player, loved building and working on projects in his workshop, and listening to music - especially Elvis Presley. Dicky’s biggest passion in his life was his wife Terry, who he was married to for 54 years, and his three children. Dicky was an amazing man, father, Grandfather, and a friend to all. He was always quick to crack a joke and make others laugh. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family. A true superman that bravely fought cancer for eleven years, he was truly a one-of-a-kind and will never be forgotten.
Predeceased in death by his parents, Louis and Helen Stinson; his siblings Howard, Louis, Doris, Carolee, Eileen, Robert and Jean; Father and Mother-in-law Edwin and Carolyn Paschal, and Daughter-in-law Kristy Stinson; Dicky is survived by his wife and love of his life Terry; his son, Richard Stinson Jr.; his daughters Lisa Brookes, and her husband Dan; Amanda Deaton and her husband, Cecil; Granddaughters Adrianna and Katelyn Stinson; his siblings, Marion Meredith, Florence Moore, Jill Hotchkin and her husband Russell; many nieces, nephews, and special lifelong friends.

“A king once stood
In a palace so tall
With great riches
He truly had it all
He had a wife & kids
A husband, a father
He was one of a kind
A man like no other
A soldier in Vietnam
He served his country
Proud to be an American
The land of the free
He was a roofer
He was good with his hands
A union construction worker
His talents were grand
A fondness of music
He loved Elvis and Motown
He could dance the Twist
He knew how to get down
An eye for playing pool
And a love of horseshoes
Multiple championships won
He knew just what to do
He would always lend a hand
If someone was in need
When he gave you his word
It was a guarantee
He’s now up in heaven
He gave it his all
A life’s mission fulfilled
He will forever stand tall”
I love you very much, Daddy ❤️
