Born on January 17, 1924, in Tarrytown, NY, he was the son of the late Oliver Cromwell Myers and Maud Clapp Myers. Richard (Dick) married the girl next-door, his loving wife, Moira Graham Myers in 1948 and they were married 67 years before she passed in 2015. Dick served in WWII with the 751st Army Field Artillery Battalion. Dick worked in New York City for Borden and Western Electric. In 1975 he and Moira moved to Greensboro to work with AT& T until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, Dick was a volunteer at Moses Cone Hospital for 26 years. Dick loved all sports, especially playing golf, bowling and yard sports with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Moira Myers and sister Bette Cunitz.
Dick is survived by his two daughters, Carol Spencer and husband Erik and Jeanne Brickhouse and husband Blaine; four grandchildren, Christina Holmes (Peter) and Matthew Spencer (Rebecca) and Bryan Brickhouse (Caroline) and Nora Arriola (Alberto); and seven great-grandchildren, Amelia, Grace, Sloane, Vincent, Elizabeth, Nate and Adam.
The family would like to thank the staff of Abbotswood at Irving Park, Home Instead and, AuthoraCare Collective Hospice for their loving care of Dick.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the Lineberry Center at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel with Rev. Newton Cowan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Richard Oliver Myers.
