Ed was born in Orlando, FL, on July 26, 1939, to the late Clarence and Olivia King. He was an avid golfer and loved traveling with his wife of 60 years, Dimples. They owned Monticello Golf Course, now Crooked Tree Golf Course, for many years. He will be remembered as a caring and giving husband, father and loving grandad. He loved his wife and family more than anything.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Dimples King; son, Richard “Rick” King, Jr.; and brothers, Clarence and Carlton King.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy King Foust and her husband, Doug, of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Sherri Pegram King of Greensboro; granddaughter, Kandis King Rumley and her husband, Kevin, of Greensboro; and grandsons, Pete King and his wife, Amanda, of Greensboro and Thomas “Ti” Edmonds and his wife, Sarah, of Trinity. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
At Ed’s request, there will be no service arrangements.
