Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m., Saturday July 29, 2023 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with the Funeral Service at 11:00am conducted by Dr. David Greene of Jamestown United Methodist Church. The burial will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
The Family will gather at Rebecca's home after the burial for a reception provided by Jamestown United Methodist Church Bereavement Committee.
Rebecca Elliott Luquer was born to William Carl and Nannie Pendry Elliott on January 4, 1932. She graduated from Jamestown High School. She was married to Harold Wayne Luquer, Sr. on October 14, 1950. They were blessed with three children: Harold, Janice and Lloyd. She worked as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir, camping, tennis, swimming, bike riding, painting, sewing, quilting, cooking, golf, scrap-booking, playing the piano and many varied crafts. She was very creative and always active.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wayne Luquer, Sr.; parents, William Carl and Nannie Pendry Elliott; four brothers, Carlton Elliott, Charles Elliott, George Elliott and Raymond Elliott and six sisters, Maxine Honeycutt, Betsy Reid, Ruth Crabtree, Helen Rae Long, Mary Alice Griffin, and Nancy Manning.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Nell Marie Mills; her two sons, Harold Wayne Luquer, Jr. or “Luke” (Kelly Umberger Luquer), Raymond Lloyd Luquer (Rose Goins Luquer) and daughter, Janice Luquer Clewis (Dr. Tommie Clewis). The surviving grandchildren are Eric Luquer (Nikki), Anthony Luquer (Dawn), Christopher Luquer, Dr. Jason Clewis (Jessica), and Brandon Clewis (Grace). She is survived by nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grand-daughter.
