Nancy George Bailey

Nancy George Bailey, 82, a resident of Greensboro and former resident of Brown Summit went to her heavenly home on Thursday November 9, 2023. She was born March 31, 1941 in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late George and Nannie Gross Matherly.

Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked for 19 years with Cone Mills where she was a weaver. She also spent many years taking care of her adored families in need as a registered nurse always serving others.

She is proceeding in death by her husband Ellis Nelson Bailey, her mother Nannie Gross Matherly, her father George Washington Matherly, and sister Virginia Hammack.

She is survived by daughters, Irene Atkinson (Rondal), Tina Childress (Tony); sons, Larry Bailey, Charles Bailey (Kimberly); brother, George Matherly Jr.; sisters, Millie Leftwich, June James; six grandchildren; Tony Bailey, Lee Bailey, Tina Woods, Amanda Bell, Samantha Childress and Elijah (Scotty) Bailey and 14 great grandchildren; Emma Woods, Kaydence Woods, Evan Woods, Lasley Woods, Tyler Bailey, CJ Bailey, Frankie Bailey, Alexander Bailey, Kailey Dennis, Raya Dennis, Elijah Childress, Tracey Childress, Elizabeth Pasour, Aurora Colby and Kennedy Church.

For friends and family a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 15, 2023 at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will be holding a private viewing.
