Mrs. Myrtle Cockman Cole

GREENSBORO: Mrs. Myrtle Cockman Cole, 89, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at her residence.

The funeral service for Mrs. Cole will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Pugh officiating. Internment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Cole was a native of Moore County and was the daughter of the late John and Mishie Cockman.

She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 52 years and had taught the Adult III Sunday School Class for 16 years and served in many other positions through the years. She retired from Lorillard Company after 26 years of service.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord and led a Christian life.

Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her husband Alton Cole, Sr. and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are her son Alton Cole, Jr. and wife Janice, her daughter Elaine Rice and husband Bill. She is also survived by 2 grandsons and their wives, Jeff and Karen Cole and Aaron and Christy Rice.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm Chapel and at other times at 4203 Bell Orchard Drive.
