Matthew "Matt" Grady Bryant

Matthew “Matt” Grady Bryant, 50, a resident of Greensboro, was called home by the good Lord on Sunday February 6, 2022. He was born May 19, 1971 in Greensboro, the son of James Grady and Frances Ann Gibbs Bryant.

Matt graduated from Southern Guilford High School and received his Basic Law Enforcement Training from Guilford Technical Community College. He first began his Law Enforcement career with the North Carolina Department of Corrections where he worked as a Bloodhound Handler. He later joined the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office where he served in numerous capacities and on various special teams during his career, to include the Dive Team, Honor Guard and Warrant Squad. He was best known for his service as Corporal with the K-9 Unit within the Special Operations Division, and retired after 30 years of loyal service.

Matt is a faithful Christian and was a member of Definition Church. Matt lived every day rejoicing in the good Lord and declaring His love, provision, and blessings for us. He treasured his days by spending time with his baby girls, dogs, family and friends, and helping others. He loved being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, watching wildlife, or simply just relaxing to the sounds of nature.

He is preceded in death by his father James Grady Bryant; his paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Simon W. Bryant; and Matt’s faithful K-9 partner “Shakira”. Surviving are his daughters, Amanda Taylor Bryant of Brown Summit, Madison Haley Bryant of Greensboro; his mother, Frances Gibbs Bryant of Greensboro; his brother, James W. Bryant and wife Kim of Greensboro and his K-9 companions, “Bailee Bryant”, “Barrett Bryant” and a host of many family and friends.

Matt’s Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday February 18th at the Definition Church 1806 Merritt Dr. Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by Dr. Allen Holmes. Interment with honors by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Thursday February 17th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
