Mrs. Mary Edna Humphrey Thompson, 89, a resident of Greensboro died Tuesday December 3, 2013 at Beacon Place. Mrs. Thompson was born in Wilson, NC the daughter of Wade and Betty Whitley Humphrey.
She was married to Jesse Calvin “J.C.” Thompson who preceded her in death. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Thompson Thomas; her sisters, Ida Humphrey, Ellen Leach and her brothers, Wade and Billy Humphrey.
She is survived by her a daughter, Susan Thompson of New York City and extended family members, Kay Tucker and husband Jerry, Doris Ruffner and husband Bob, Miriam Humphrey Seymour and Donna Woody and husband Russell.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Donna Smith. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
