Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Rev. Michael Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Stokes County, to the late Ellis and Eliza Taylor, Mrs. Piner was a member of First Baptist Church of High Point, where she raised her children. In recent years she had attended New Life Baptist Church in Thomasville. Mary received her Certified Nurse’s Assistant degree from Davidson County Community College and worked at Community General Hospital. She later worked in Home Health Care Services. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. Mary loved her pets and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known for making the best fried chicken, biscuits, and collard greens. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Charles Burgess Piner, Jr., and two brothers, Joe and William Taylor.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mary Anne Mabe and husband Mickey of Trinity, Bill Piner and wife Denise of Virginia, Eddie Piner and wife Lori of Oklahoma, and Nancy Williams and husband Alan of Greensboro; grandchildren, Lori Smith and husband Rick, Kristi Price, Tabitha Turner and husband Matt, Teri Woolard and husband Jason, Michael Piner, Marcy McGuire and husband Scott, and Megan Key and husband Sean; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm this evening, Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the funeral home. Hanes-Lineberry 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
