Mary Brewer Locklear

Mary Brewer Locklear 83, passed away Feb. 12, 2024 with her family at her side. She was the bravest person I've ever known and was actually consoling us as her own life on earth was ending. But, she knew where she was going and was ready to meet her heavenly Father.

Mom was born in Guilford County to Alton and Dorothy Brewer. She married the love of her life, Willie Dean Locklear, on May 10, 1956. They always worked together to provide for their family. Mom worked several jobs during her life including over 10 years at Lorillard Tobacco Company and 20+ years at Miller Brewing Company. After she retired Mom still continued to work as a personal caregiver. She was the most giving and loving person I've ever known. Mom just loved people! She was kind hearted, quick to forgive, and always ready with a helping hand. She was our prayer warrior and always prayed with the little ones. She will be dearly missed. Rest in peace our sweet MawMaw.

Mary is survived by her two children, Tammy Wright (Vic) and Randy Locklear (wife, Tammie Stallings, whom passed away two years ago); four grandchildren, Windi Rader (Chad), Josh Wright (Jessica), Crystal Wright, and Amber Dudley (Matthew); and 11 great grandchildren, Caleb, Kayla, Kirsten, Joseph, Gwenivere, Scarlett, Violet, Helana, Weston, Daphne, Rhaegar; two sisters, Dottie Thrush (Glenn) and Becky Brewer; and several nieces and nephews; also a loyal friend to MawMaw and the family, Charlie Rogers.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Willie Dean Locklear and her precious son Willie Dean Locklear Jr., three brothers and two sister-in-laws, Dale Brewer (Julia), Gordon Brewer (Margaret), and Jimmy Brewer, and a nephew Bobby Frye.

In memory of MawMaw our family asks that each person show an act of kindness to someone... as MawMaw always said, "It doesn't cost one penny to be kind."

Services will be held at Advantage Funeral Home at 1900 Vanstory St. in Greensboro.

Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, Saturday February 24, 2024

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm

Burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
