Martha Lena Lena Fields

Martha Lena Fields, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Services to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Lena was born on Aug. 19, 1929, in Asheboro, NC, the daughter of Charles M. and Fannie Moon Presnell. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Clearview Baptist Church. She loved to cook, and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Fields, thirteen years ago and son, Robert Fields, 10 years ago and great grandchildren, Tilton Patterson and Sampson Quate. Those left to cherish her memory are; sons; Lawrence Fields Jr. and wife Sherry C., William “Bill” Fields and wife Sherri, all of Greensboro, NC; daughters; Lee Johnson and husband Lynn of Climax, NC and Shirley Smith and husband Rev. Bob Smith of Colfax, NC; daughter-in-law, Beverly Fields of Greensboro, NC; fourteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. , Greensboro, NC, 27405.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
