Loretta Ann Brown, born on May 11, 1947, in Greensboro, NC, to Robert and Lucille Hamlin, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, with family in Chapel Hill, NC. A dedicated medical secretary, Loretta was known for her loving and giving nature, which touched the lives of many in her community.
Loretta graduated from Walter Hines Page High School and attended East Carolina University. Loretta was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and devoted her time to community service. She had a passion for music and theater, playing the cello for the Jacksonville Symphony and performing in numerous local plays. Her contributions to various community projects showcased her commitment to helping others, as she often guided individuals toward new opportunities.
Loretta cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, and she is survived by her brother Robert and her children: Michael, Christopher (wife Gretchen), Christina (husband Julian), and Richard, along with their respective children, who will carry on her legacy of love and support.
Her unwavering faith as a member of the LDS Church provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life. Loretta's advice and guidance will be greatly missed by those who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Loretta’s viewing will be held at Advantage Funeral Home, 1900 Vanstory St., Greensboro, Friday, Aug 16 from 6-8pm and her Funeral will take place at the LDS chapel at 3719 Pinetop Rd. Aug 17 at 1pm, with graveside service following at Westminster Gardens at 3pm.
