He was born on June 7, 1926 in Plains, KS to the late George Raymond and Blanche Hazel (Jennison) Wilson. He married Chloe Loveyla St. Clair on June 20, 1946.
He lived most of his life SW Kansas, but for the past few years, due to declining health, he has lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David in Jamestown, NC and finally with Tricia and Tony McMasters at their farm in Ramseur, NC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loveyla, a son, William David, parents, sisters, Mary Ellen Gum, Hazel Cain and Carol Grund.
He is survived sons Andrew (Karen) of Belton, TX and Michael (Dawn) of Pleasant View, TN, daughters Diana Naylor (Doyle) of Dodge City, KS and Kathleen Gleeson (David) of Jamestown, NC, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, Tricia & Tony McMasters and sons, Nathan, Isaac and Dylan.
After graduating from Liberal High School in 1944 he proudly served in the US Navy June of 1944 through June of 1946. Returning from the Navy he worked for United Carbon Plant in Grant County, KS from 1946 to 1963. After the plant closed in 63 he started his own appliance repair business in Satanta, KS. In 1965 he moved his family to Dodge City, KS where he worked for Metcalf Refrigeration until 1970. While in Dodge City he taught refrigeration classes at night through RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society). In 1970 he began teaching refrigeration at Liberal Area Vocational School. He was most proud of the 11 years he taught at the VoTech. He ended his working career as head of maintenance for Panhandle Eastern in Liberal, KS. He retired from Panhandle Eastern in 1992.
The church was a very important part of his family life. He attended Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, First Church of God, Dodge City, First Church of God, Liberal and South Church of God, Liberal.
As a young man, his hobbies included hunting, fishing and bowling; but in the later years, he became a fan of high school wrestling. But the thing he enjoyed most was telling the stories of his life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2PM at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro, NC for family and friends in NC. Funeral service will be held at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, KS on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2PM. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.
