Lawrence Ray Coleman, 58, a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL and a former resident of Greensboro, NC, died on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Ray was born April 10, 1965 in Greensboro, the son of Thomas Ray Coleman and Tansy Lee Johnson.
Ray was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy and later with the U.S. Army Reserve. He served multiple tours overseas. While serving, he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He worked for D.H. Griffin helping with the clean-up of the World Trade Centers after 9/11. Ray was currently employed by Black & Veatch for several years as Safety Manager. He loved his job and was a mentor to many.
Ray was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Martha and Lawrence Fields; his paternal grandparents, William and Pearl Coleman; an uncle, Robert Fields; and his step-father, Jesse Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Michele Coleman; three children, Chase Coleman, Mikaela Coleman (Donald Caldwell), and Chandler Coleman; three step children, Luke Simmons, Jorden Ladner, and Ana Ladner (Joshua Havard); three siblings, Cynthia Murray (Robbie Stewart), Tommy Coleman (Kristi Whicker), and Wayne and wife Jonny Coleman; a fur-baby, Symber and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2023 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Chris Vance. Interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday January 16th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Following services family and friends are welcome to join us at The Rustic Roost at 119 Sealy Drive, Trinity, NC 27370.
