Joseph Charles Wood III

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Hanes Lineberry on North Elm Street from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Joe was born in Boston MA, to the late Joseph C. Wood, II and Marguerite Smith Wood. He was a graduate of Grimsley High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, and UNC-Greensboro. He retired as the President and Owner of Aureus Limited.

Joe loved Greensboro. He was a former Guilford County Commissioner and has served on the Guilford County Planning Board, the Greensboro Community Resources Board, and the Greensboro Redevelopment Committee. He recently enjoyed chairing the Grimsley High School Class of 1968, Fiftieth Reunion Commitee. He and his best friends established the Buffalo Creek Canoe Club and being crowned Princess Whitewater was a proud accomplishment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judie Callahan Wood, and his brother, William Wood.

Joe is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Poole (Matthew) of Lima, Peru and Meredith Wood-Masteka (Mason) of Portland, Maine; three grandsons, Wren Poole and Wyatt and Brooks Masteka; his brother, Phillip Wood of Kernersville; stepmother, Shirley Wood of Vermont; three half-siblings, Geoffrey, Bridget and Julia of New England; and many nieces and nephews.
