Joseph (Joe) James Reardon, 84, a resident of Gibsonville, NC and a former resident of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on Wednesday May 11, 2022 at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC surrounded by his family. He was born October 3, 1937 in Pittsfield, NH, the son of Joseph A. and Rose Alma Chagnon Reardon Aldrich.
Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Reserves. He served 12 years supporting our country.
During his career, Joe worked as a sheet metal specialist and supervisor as well as a Civil Service employee at the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, VA. After retirement, he also worked as a school bus driver for the city of Virginia Beach Public School System.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Reardon Chappell.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years Christine (Tina) Reardon; one daughter, Marie R. Porter and husband Clint of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Michael Reardon of Virginia Beach, VA, Mark Reardon and wife Sharon of Gibsonville NC; seven grandchildren, Craig Reardon and wife Whitney, Allison R. Chambers and husband Tyler, Megan Reardon, Audrey Porter, James Porter, Logan Reardon, Christopher Porter and four great grandchildren, Wyatt Reardon, Reagan Reardon, Tinley Chambers and Tucker Chambers.
Joe enjoyed mentoring young men while coaching Little League Baseball, traveling in his motor home and going to NASCAR races.
Joe will truly be missed. He was dedicated to his family, his community, and God. A devoted husband to one, a wonderful father to three, a “Pop Pop” to eleven, and “Uncle Sonny” to many nieces and nephews. He worked hard to provide for his family. What an extraordinary life Joe had! He played an integral part in everyone’s life that he met. He loved to share his life’s experiences and was able to tell stories with the most vivid details. He loved to play card games with his family and sit with neighbors and talk about life.
He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Greensboro, NC.

Interment services will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Virginia Beach, Va.
