Jewel Miller Wilson, age 95, of Thomasville, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was born on April 28, 1929 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, daughter of William O. Miller and Maude Jones Miller.
Jewel graduated Valedictorian (1947) from Hanes High School in Winston Salem, NC and then graduated from Women’s College (now UNCG) in 1951. She married the love of her life, Kenneth, in May 1951. Jewel was a longtime member of Hinshaw United Methodist Church and a member of Asbury Sunday School class. She served on several committees, worked at Urban Ministry and delivered mobile meals. Jewel retired from Greensboro Endocrinology as a Lab Technician.
Jewel spent the last three and a half years in the memory care unit at Brookstone Terrace in Thomasville where she was loved and cared for by the dedicated staff. She cherished each of them in return. She was truly the life of the party and lived each day to the fullest. Jewel will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her daughters; Donna Smith and Susan Wilson; parents W.O. and Maude Miller; sisters; Ruth Knott and Gloria Melton, and nephew Keith Knott.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Myers (Steve); son-in-law Dennis Smith; grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Zachary Myers and Julie Myers; great grandson, Ashton Williams; brother, W.O. Miller Jr. (Lib) and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Family request casual attire for viewing and service.
