Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Rev. Billy McDaniel and Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Reynolds was born June 10, 1930, to the late Roy and Julia Reynolds. He was a long-time member of Shining Light Baptist Church. Jay was a Corporal in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Southern Railways after 21 years of employment, enjoyed traveling, loved to drive, and liked anything to do with cars, most of all detailing them. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his first wife and mother to his children, Opal V. Reynolds.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Madge P. Reynolds of the home; son, Chris Reynolds and his wife Debbie of Greensboro; daughter, Beth Johnson and husband Bruce of Jamestown; grandsons, B.J. Johnson and his wife Sarah of Florida and Bryant Johnson and his wife Sara of California; great-granddaughters, Kennedi and Brooklyn Johnson of Florida; brother, Dean Reynolds and his wife Sherron of Jamestown; step-son, Wayne Pendry and his wife Betty of Virginia; step-daughter, Denise Johnson and her husband Eugene of Virginia; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. tonight, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
